CNN —A Florida Republican lawmaker, after flipping his support to former President Donald Trump, is now publicly questioning Gov. Ron DeSantis’ support for the Jewish community. In the tug of war for home-state supremacy, Trump has gained the upper hand in part by exploiting rifts between DeSantis and Florida Republicans. Upstaging the governorThe personal vendettas help explain the lengths that Trump and his allies have traveled to upstage the Florida governor. “I think Ron DeSantis has been a good governor of Florida,” he told CNN.

By comparison, Trump's main fundraising committee took in about $35 million in the second quarter even as the former president's legal troubles mounted, a sizeable increase from the previous quarter. “We are grateful for the investment so many Americans have made to get this country back on track," DeSantis' campaign manager, Generra Peck, said in a statement. The haul appeared to include just over $80 million that the committee received in May from a committee tied to DeSantis' re-election effort in the 2022 Florida gubernatorial campaign. MAGA Inc, the Trump counterpart to DeSantis' Never Back Down, has yet to disclose how much money it has raised this year. But last year it received $60 million from another committee tied to Trump.

The exemption is allowed so long as Super PACs stay independent of the campaign they are supporting. This year's record spending by outside groups has been fueled in part by massive transfers by political groups tied to the candidates. "We've never had anything quite like this before in campaign finance," said Saurav Ghosh, a lawyer at the Campaign Legal Center. 'DISASSOCIATED'The Trump and DeSantis campaigns did not respond to requests for comment, but both Super PACs said the transfers were legal. "Campaign Legal Center is a fringe leftist organization that exists to file frivolous complaints," said MAGA Inc spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer.

A video from 2018 shows a dressed-down Matt Gaetz coaching Ron DeSantis on how to debate. Gaetz is also seen slumping onto the podium midway through debate prep. At the time of the video, Gaetz was a Florida congressman, while DeSantis had resigned to run against Gillum. Gaetz was one of the people enlisted to help DeSantis prep for debates. "I ran the Desantis Debate Prep in 2018.
Ron DeSantis would beat former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup for the 2024 Republican nomination, GOP voters said in a new poll released Thursday. That hype was echoed in the survey from Monmouth University: In a hypothetical head-to-head fight, 53% of Republican voters said they would pick DeSantis, versus 40% for Trump. "An overwhelming majority of polls show President Trump with significant and dominant leads both nationally and statewide," Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement to CNBC. Cheung also pointed to a series of other recent poll results showing Trump leading the prospective GOP field by double digits. Trump still holds major sway over the Republican Party, more than two years after losing his reelection bid to President Joe Biden.
DOJ veterans shot down Trump's claim that he "sent in" the FBI to help Ron DeSantis win the 2018 Florida gubernatorial race. The feds are now investigating if "Stop The Steal" protests surrounding the 2018 Florida election served as a roadmap for the Capitol riot. But in another post, Trump went beyond simply relitigating the 2018 election to making a new, remarkable claim about his past support for DeSantis. It prompted eye-rolling, and with some, public denials that the Justice Department and FBI ever investigated 2018 election fraud at Trump's behest. Activities surrounding the 2018 Florida elections have attracted federal scrutiny — but not for the reasons the former president spouted off about on social media.

MIAMI — The manager of Charlie Crist’s Florida gubernatorial campaign was arrested in a domestic violence case a day before he resigned from the campaign, NBC News has learned. One Democrat familiar with the campaign and the controversy confirmed the arrest, which is why Durrer left the campaign. The day after Durrer's arrest, Crist’s campaign announced that he had resigned, telling reporters that Durrer was departing the campaign three weeks before the election to “focus on a family matter.” Prior to the campaign, Durrer served as Crist's chief of staff in his Florida congressional office in Washington. Prior to Durrer’s arrest, Crist’s campaign was trailing Gov. The state's attorney did not immediately provide NBC News a written copy of the probable cause affidavit, nor did the local police department in Cambridge.
